Yes! You can definitely color in them without Vaseline 😊

Hi Karin! My books are printed through Amazon, however I used the color printing process for my grayscale books instead of the black and white one that you may be used to with other coloring books printed through Amazon. The color printing process heat sets the ink onto the paper leaving a semi-gloss appearance...I call it a satin finish almost. I find it's great for colored pencils, markers and gel pens! I do include the tester sheets at the beginning of the book so you can try out whatever materials you want. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

@@NikkiBurnette Thank you for clearing that up Nikki! Many people in the fb group, answered me by saying that the paper is smooth, slick , has no issues and they love your books. One person owns three! None of them knew whether it was printed on Amazon paper, lol so I had a brainstorm to go straight to the source. :) I am super excited to order a book tonight and I will look at some flip throughs. I love greyscale but not photographs. I only like artist illustrated pages. I am so glad that you took the extra step to print the pages through a process that accepts pencil so well. I wish other artists would be as proactive because it makes the process of colouring so enjoyable when there is no frustration. I will pass the info onto other people who will be very happy to hear this. One woman hadn't heard about your books and was happy to look and order. Another person saw my post and she decided that it is time to buy another one. I think I started something...haha. Thanks again and if I have any questions, I will certainly send them your way. Oh wow! Thank you so much for purchasing my book! I really hope that you enjoy it. :) I'm not sure what colors you would use in crayola. I know that there are some awesome conversion charts that you can find online that shows similar colors in different brands. I would maybe try to start googling something like that. I love your book so much going to order the other one and a small set of prisma,I bought the prisma scholar ones today, hope they are kind of the same,love your work,both of my granddaughter's draw as well and are quite good,one of them is going to go to art school,to keep on learning and refind her drawing,lol they didn't get their talents from me,I cannot draw a straight line,but my mom sure could draw,and my daughter can as well, keep on going dear,you have amazing talent, take care and God bless,hugs

That's a great question! I think that alcohol based markers like Sharpies or Bic Markers would work better than Crayola Markers. Crayola Markers are water based so they put a lot of moisture on the paper causing the printing to pill up and buckle. But that's why I love putting the tester images at the front of the book so that you can try out all your materials to see what works best for you. I hope that helps! :)

@@NikkiBurnette Oh yes. That helps. I've bought 3 different sets of alcohol markers from Amazon. All of them dry out within a month. Very frustrating. 😭

Yes, you can certainly use markers! Markers are actually my favorite thing to use on grayscale coloring pages. The beginner's version of books make it really easy to use markers and apply solid color over an entire area while the grayscale shading underneath does all the work. :)

in my experience as someone who has always used photoshop for painting, I definitely favor clipstudio for lineart.

One REALLY nice thing about Clip Studio Paint is that it has a "Vector Eraser" which will erase the overlap. So if you draw a line past the intended spot, you can just use the vector eraser and it will erase just the part that went past the initial line ending. It's a life saver!

I'm so glad that you had a positive experience using watercolors on my books! I've tried it before too and really enjoyed it. Did you try to tape your paper down? It helps with the buckling a bit. :) You can also put it under some heavy books after you're done to flatten it out. Thank you for your kind words! :)

@@NikkiBurnette I didn't tape it down. I don't like to remove the pages from the book :-) So I used only a little amount of water and when the page was almost dry, I closed the book with paper above and underneath the page, placed some heavy books on it and on the next day it was completely flattened. I really like the greyscale, this is perfect for beginners to achieve really good results. I just ordered all of your greyscale books from amazon :-)
